English band formed in 1986, with Martin Walkyier (vocals), Andy Sneap (guitar), Frazer Craske (bass), and Simon Negus (drums). Sabbat distinguished themselves with both their blazing speed and their fascination with witchcraft, black magic, paganism, and the Dark Ages. Their music was complex and their stage show was highly theatrical. After two albums, Walkyier and Craske left the band, with Walkyier forming Skyclad. Sabbat broke up after one album with new personnel. ~ Steve Huey, All Music Guide
